Make Up Your Miranda IM

I know there are many people have problems to Customise Miranda IM. In this tutorial, i am going to show you how to make up your Miranda IM step by step.

Before we getting start, download the following softwares/plugins, themes.

softwares/plugins

Miiranda IM: download the lastest released version from the official website.

Modern Contact List: This plugin makes you skin your Miranda-IM very flexible, much more than others clist plugin. For example you can styleese list of you buddy by Status, Order, Group, Protocol,even Nick.

IEView: This plugin replaces RichEdit used by TabSRMM or Scriver with IE control and adds the following new features: animated smileys (SmileyAdd required), background image in message log, full message log customization with external CSS file or HTML templates !

TabSRMM Unicode: Advanced message dialog with a tabbed interface and highly configurable features.

Miranda database - with AutoBackups: TabSRMM requires a recent Miranda database plugin (at least, 0.5.1.x).

Use at your own risk if you use a betas or alphas plugins.

Step 1 - Install Miranda IM and Plugins

a. Install your latest released Miranda IM in your computer and install all plugin(please follow the installation in readme.text included with plugin)
b. Now open up miranda go to options then Plugins and check ieview, tabsrmm and clist_moden.
c. Restart miranda.

You have successful installed Miranda IM and the plugins you need. Congratulation.

Step 2 - Load Miranda IM skin

a. Place the Milk Adium Chocolate skin in any place you like.
b. Open up miranda go to options then customize - skin.
c. Click Browse and locate the skin file.
d. Click Apple botton and you will see the change immediately on you Miranda IM.
e. Please read the readme.txt included with theme zip file and do what they said.

Step 3 - Customise the message window

a. Open up miranda go to options then Message sessions - Message Log - Message window - Check "Use IEview as default message log" .
b. Go to options then Message sessions - IEview Plugin - Message Log
c. Click Template, and direct to your template(.css), there are some very good templates in you IEview Plugin file. click Apple and you can open a message window send a message to your friend for testing.

Step 4 - Change the icons
a. Put you icons in your icon folder(or any place you like)
b. Go to options then Contact List - Icon.
c. Select any icon category (eg. main icons), click Import icons and select the icon from icon folder then drag to replace the older icon. Or you may download a icon set from internet, you can just "load a icon set"

To this stage, you have done a easy make up for your Miranda IM. Congratulation. And there many other options in each plugin. Find out by yourself, it is fun. This is the first time i wrote such things, so if you have any question, you are free to ask me.

第一步 - 安装 Miranda IM 和 插件

a. 安装最新版的 Miranda IM 和 plugin(安装之前请认真阅读在每个插件自带的 readme.text)
b. 打开 Miranda IM, 打开 options 然后选择 Plugins 激活 ieview, tabsrmm and clist_moden.
c. 重启 miranda.

你已经成功安装了 Miranda IM 和你需要的 plugins. 恭喜恭喜.

第二步 - 读取 Miranda IM 的主题文件

a. 把Milk Adium Chocolate 主题文件解压倒你的硬盘.
b. 打开Miranda IM, 选择 options - customize - skin.
c. 点击 Browse 然后选定你刚才存放的主题文件.
d. 点击 Apple 按钮后你就可以马上看到 Miranda IM 有了一个新的外观.
e. 请仔细阅读每个主题自带的readme.txt.

第三步 - 美化你的聊天窗口.

a. 打开Miranda IM然后选择 options - Message sessions - Message Log - Message window - 点击 "Use IEview as default message log" .
b. 选择 options - Message sessions - IEview Plugin - Message Log
c. Click Template, 然后选择你的CSS模板文件(.css), 在你刚才下载的IEview插件内自带了很多精美的主题.点击Apple 后你可以打开一个聊天窗口和你朋友聊天下顺便测试下效果.

第四步 - 更换图标
a. 把图标文件放到ICON文件夹(或者你喜欢的地方),我们下载的Milk Adium Chocolate主题包内自带一些配套的图标.
b. 到options - Contact List - Icon.
c. 选择任何一个你想到更换的图标组 (eg. main icons), 点击 Import icons 然后从你的图标文件夹内选择你要的图标, 拖动覆盖旧有的图标. 或者你可以从网上直接下载图标组.

到这里你已经完成了对Miranda IM一个基本的美化. 恭喜恭喜. 当然每个插件还提供很多自定义选项. 你可以自己去摸索. 这是我第一次写这种教程,所以有什么不妥地方请告诉我或者你有什么不明白的地方也可以来问我.
