Backup WordPress Database With Gmail.

Cate: Wordpress

This is a simple way to backup you WordPress database daily, the only thing you need to do is just setup you plugin and Gmail once, and the plugin will do the rest work.

WordPress Plugin

The plugin you need is WP-Cron and WordPress Database Backup, both of them are created by Scott Merrill. First of all, download the files and upload to you plugin folder, go to the Plugin page of WordPress and active them. Then go to Manage page, you will see a new tag "Backup". - Step 1

One thing we need to do first is send a mail with a backpfile to you mail account. Open the Backup page, go to Backup Options, and select Email backup to, entry your email, then click "Backup". - Step 2

Under the Backup page, find the Scheduled Backup section, select Daily scheduled, and entre your gmail account. This plugin will backup the core WordPress tables in default, if you demand to backup the other tables, you can aslo select them on the bottom of this page. After that, click Submit. - Step 3

Gmail Account

Go to you gmail account, open the setting page. First we go to Labels page and creat a new Label "WordPress DB Backup". Now we want all the mail with backupfile apply this lable. And this done by creating a filter, click "creat a new filter" bottom under Filters page, creat a new filter with subjext name "Database Backup" or the subject name of the mail we sent in step 2, click "Test Search" and make sure we found the mail we sent in step 2, then click Next, select Skip the Inbox (Archive it)( the mail will not show in the index box ), and Apply the required label. Cilck "Creat Filter". - Step 4

And that it, pretty straightforward. Once you need your database backupfile, just login to your Gmail account, open the WordPress DB Backup label on the sidebar. And it doesn't must be a gmail account, you can use any mail account with a filter function.
